Quantity vs Quality

I think it’s fair to say that the saying ‘Jack of all trades, master of none‘ is a pretty good one.

Recently, when helping business owners with moving forward through Get Better Coaching, it’s become apparent that the main problem we all find is that there are many, many things we could be doing and we just don’t have time for them all.  Not right now anyway.

I think it’s worth considering ‘parking’ a lot of the things you could be doing and concentrating on the quality of what you are doing now.  If you work hard and efficiently on just a few important areas you can become expert in them.  They then become habitual, easier and quicker to do.  Then you can move on to doing more of that other stuff, including having more time for fun and those things on your bucket list.

Quality not Quantity

Quality over Quantity

What would be great for you right now if you could become better at it, quicker and more efficient?

If you dedicate more time to working on that, in the long run you’ll have more time.   Write down other things you want to do, so that there’s a record and they don’t clog up your brain … you can come back to them.

Spend the time you need to make sure you’re proficient at what you need to do well now.  Once you’ve mastered it, go back to your list and do the next thing. Don’t forget to reward yourself along the way too.

If you do one spectacular thing, or one thing incredibly well you’ll be remembered more and feel you’ve achieved far more than if you do lots that is just mediocre.

Well, that’s my take on quality over quantity….. What do you think?

    Hi Wendy
I really enjoyed your blog on Quality over Quantity; it was a good reminder of what my values are. It is so easy to get bogged down with trying to do everything, after all Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will my business be. Thanks for your insight. Kind regards Denise
